The U.S. ambassador to Canada made some odd comments over the weekend, seeming to downplay alleged interference by China in our elections.

To be fair, Cohen said it’s important that foreign interference by countries like China and Russia be taken seriously, but his logic reflects the flawed thinking Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberals had in setting up their process to report on foreign interference prior to the 2019 and 2021 elections.
In other words, we’d only be informed when it was too late, since the civil servants were instructed to only report on the election period — as little as 36 days — as opposed to prior to the election when efforts at interference would be planned and executed.
