Houston Fire: Blaze that left 1 injured, killed dog in northwest Houston may have been arson
A northwest Houston apartment fire that might have been intentionally set Saturday sent an elderly man to the hospital and left a dog dead, according to the Houston Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to an apartment fire at West Tidwell Road and Thousand Oaks Circle around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, officials told Metro Video Services reporters. A second-floor apartment was burned and a downstairs unit sustained water damage, but firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread further.
Houston Fire Department officials believe the fire started in the upstairs unit, although the exact cause remained under investigation Sunday. Investigators were looking into whether the blaze was a case of arson, meaning it may have been intentionally set.
