A man in his 80's was shot and killed in an apparent home invasion in Encino.
Officers were called to the 4500 block of Densmore Ave. around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for reports of assault with a deadly weapon.
According to investigators, two to three men entered the home and apparently got into a physical altercation with the victim who lived there. A man in his 60's came home while the home invasion was occurring. Police say that man confronted a suspect but was pistol-whipped. The second victim attempted to render aid to the elderly man, but he died on scene.
Authorities said there was no sign of forced entry. Police said they do not know the relationship between the two victims and do not know if the two victims have any connection to the suspects. It is unknown if the suspects stole any items from the home.The suspects fled in a white SUV in an unknown direction. Anyone with information is urged to contact LAPD.
