An 82-year-old woman was attacked in a HDB lift by a neighbor with special needs in MacPherson, Singapore. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 5th, at approximately 12:30 pm. CCTV footage captured the attack, showing the man chasing the elderly woman and assaulting her in the lift.
A 82-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after being attacked by a neighbor with special needs in a HDB lift in MacPherson. The woman, surnamed Wu, said she was kicked in the chest and then to the ground, hitting her head on the floor. CCTV footage shows the man chasing the elderly woman and attacking her in the lift. The woman managed to escape to the first floor where other residents called the police and ambulance.
Wu said her mother suffered multiple injuries and was placed under observation in the hospital. Wu stated that she and her mother had moved into the flat last July and that this neighbor, reportedly with special needs, often walked along the common corridor and would frequently greet them. Wu said that whenever he would have an outburst. Wu had lodged multiple police reports against him, but he would reportedly return home after being admitted to hospital for observation each time. Other neighbors living in the block told 8world about similar disturbances and said they had also filed police reports against the man. Speaking to 8world, the man's mother said her son has autism and his emotions are easily affected by others. The man liked to greet his neighbors, and had become depressed when they stopped responding to him, she explained, surmising that her son's behaviour might be due to him thinking that the neighbours disliked them
