A prominent New York writer filed a defamation lawsuit Monday against President Trump, claiming he lied earlier this year when he denied raping her in a department-store dressing room in the 1990s.
In the lawsuit, filed in state court in New York, E. Jean Carroll, a longtime advice columnist for Elle magazine, said Mr. Trump insulted her and falsely denied her allegation that he raped her in a dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York.
