PARIS—The England players were still 24 hours from knowing for sure that their next World Cup opponent would be the U.S. But England manager Phil Neville didn’t care about facing the three-time world champions. His team had just booked its spot in the semifinals and he was already prepared to look beyond them, all the way to Downing Street visits, open-top bus parades and a set of honors from the queen.
