MLB: Shea Langeliers homers and Garrett Acton shines in relief as the Oakland A’s finished their series with the Texas Rangers.

OAKLAND — The Oakland A’s are experiencing myriad issues in what might just turn into a record-setting season for futility. But it wasn’t hard to pinpoint what their biggest problem was Sunday in their series-closing game against the Texas Rangers.

With Austin Pruitt pitching in the eighth inning, a Jonah Heim single to right center — combined with an error by Esteury Ruiz — allowed Adolis Garcia to score from second base to give the Rangers a 4-3 lead. Ruiz also committed an error in the fourth inning, dropping a routine fly ball by Ezequiel Duran. Other A’s players to commit fielding errors were Jesús Aguilar and Nick Allen. Oakland entered Sunday with 26 errors as a team, the third-worst mark in MLB.

Remarkably, there were some positives for the A’s, as Shea Langeliers hit his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot to left in the seventh inning that tied the game 3-3. Reliever Garrett Acton, making his Major League debut after he was officially selected from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier Sunday, pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
