ESKOM LIVE | Stage 4 and 5 load shedding to continue for the rest of the week
Eskom has announced that Stage 5 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Sunday until 05:00 on Monday.
There were however also delays in returning to service a unit at Arnot, Hendrina, Kendal, Kriel, Lethabo, Matimba, Tutuka and two generating units at the Camden power station. Stage 5 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Friday afternoon until 05:00 on Saturday. After that, various stages will follow, Eskom said in a statement.
This pattern will be repeated daily until further notice. Breakdowns are currently at 16 486MW, while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 3 817MW. In the last 24 hours, a generation unit at Duvha Power Station was hit by a breakdown. Eskom, which has varied between Stages 4 and 6 this week, said in a statement that breakdowns have decreased to 16 369MW, and over the past 24 hours a generating unit at Matla Power Station has returned to service, although another generator was taken out of service.
