El cuarto hijo de Marcus Semien y su esposa Tarah iba a nacer en plena Serie de Campeonato de la Liga Americana.
Cuando el médico consideró que el embarazo estaba suficientemente adelantado como para inducir el parto en forma segura, Tarah dijo al intermedista de los Rangers de Texas que el bebé nacería en la pausa previa al juego de este domingo, primero de la serie ante los Astros de Houston.
La pareja acudió a un hospital el miércoles, y el nacimiento se registró aproximadamente al mediodía del jueves. La madre y la niña se encuentran bien. La pequeña Amelie se une a una familia que incluye a los niños Isaiah, Joshua y Eli. Semien dijo que ésta era la primera vez que la pareja había optado por un parto inducido. Consideraron importante que el pelotero estuviera en el nacimiento.
