Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan predicted Thursday that former President Trump will not be the Republican nominee in 2024 and that he only holds power within the Republican Party because “everybody’s afraid of him.”

“He’s going to try to intimidate people out of the race as long as he can," Ryan said.

Ryan questioned Trump's electability for 2024, saying the former president is "much more likely to lose the White House than anybody else running for president on our side of the aisle." “Whether he runs or not, I don’t really know if it matters,” Ryan said. “He’s not going to be the nominee, I don’t think.”Republican lawmakers have been reviewing potential new 2024 candidates amid concerns about Trump as a nominee after the Jan. 6 hearings,
