Facebook has not fully restored its service as of Thursday morning, but Instagram is back online.

— Facebook March 14, 2019 On Wednesday, Facebook dispelled speculation that the outage was caused by a denial-of-service attack , a type of cyberattack that disrupts an online service by flooding it with requests. Facebook said it was working to resolve the issue but didn’t announce the fix until Thursday. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Facebook estimates that 2.7 billion people use its apps, with more than 2 billion users posting and messaging on its services every day. The outage prompted exasperation from business owners and individuals who rely on Facebook’s platforms to communicate, and inspired a flood of derision on Twitter, where some users migrated to stay connected.— Lindsay Lohan March 13, 2019 The prolonged disruption could have financial consequences for the company.
