The Companies Registration Office received a report from auditors Deloitte this afternoon, saying that that the accounts of the FAI are not being properly kept
Deloitte and Touché are the official auditors of the FAI annual accounts and they declared that Cumann Peile na hÉireann, the Football Association of Ireland, is contravening section 281 and 282 of the Companies Act.
The chair of the Joint Committee on Transport Tourism and Sport, Fergus O'Dowd, met with the head of Sport Ireland John Treacy and Chairman Kieran Mulvey ahead of their scheduled Committee meeting to inform them of the latest development in the ongoing FAI controversy. Yesterday, the Football Association's Honorary Treasurer Eddie Murray and the Honorary Secretary Michael Cody voluntarily resigned from the Board of the FAI.
Executive Vice President John Delaney has stepped aside pending a number of investigations into the finances and corporate governance of the Association.
