After being convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend in front of her kids, Danelo Cavalcante escaped a suburban Philadelphia prison and was on the loose for nearly two weeks.
near Prizer Road and the farm that belonged to the late state Rep. Sam Morris and his wife, Eleanor Morris, in Pughtown.
The timeline of failures and successes extends back to November 2017, when Cavalcante, then living in his native Brazil, was able to escape police after he shot and killed another man in the state of Tocantins, allegedly over a debt. Cavalcante, a local street gang member, was able to run and hide and eventually make his way into the United States illegally through Puerto Rico., had settled in Montgomery County.
In December of that year, Cavalcante threatened Brandao again, this time with a knife, and she filed for a protective order. It was never enforced, however, and she began to move on from him. Around the same time, she learned that there was a warrant for his arrest on a homicide charge in Brazil, and she told his family that she would expose him if he ever bothered her.
