A fan-made Frasier trailer imagines the upcoming Paramount+ reboot of the beloved sitcom as something very, very different – a gritty crime drama. Kelsey Grammer's psychiatrist, Dr. Frasier Crane, was first introduced during season 3 of NBC's Boston-based sitcom Cheers as a love interest for waitress Diane Chambers.
Frasier ran for 11 successful seasons before going off the air in 2004, and it still stands as one of the very few spinoffs able to rival its parent series. With Grammer as the lead, the show boasted a strong cast of supporting characters, including Frasier's equally snobby younger brother and fellow psychiatrist, Niles Crane . The first talks of a Frasier revival began in 2016, though it was confirmed that Grammar was spearheading a reboot for Paramount+ last year.
Though the Frasier reboot may look very different from the original series, it probably won't end up being a gritty crime drama. It remains to be seen how writers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli bring Frasier back to television after a 20-year absence, though the end of the original sitcom found the titular psychiatrist moving to Chicago. Grammer has also hinted at Frasier's son Frederick playing a major role in the reboot, flipping the main dynamic of the original show.
