Vito Pitta, a lawyer for Adams’s 2021 campaign, said in a statement to The Washington Post: “The campaign has always held itself to the highest standards. The campaign will of course comply with any inquiries, as appropriate. Mayor Adams has not been contacted as part of this inquiry.”Adams traveled to Washington with other mayors to meet with federal officials about migrants’ relocation to their cities.
