Nora NaughtonFiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is doubling down on its top-selling Jeep brand as it looks to weather industrywide slowdowns in the world’s largest auto markets.
Over the next three years the Italian-American auto maker plans to increase Jeep sales by adding larger sport-utility vehicles to its showrooms, including reviving the Grand Wagoneer; reigniting growth in China; and rolling out plug-in hybrid versions of its models in the U.S. and Europe, regions where the company has had to buy credits to comply with emissions rules.
