The seventh-gen Ford Mustang will bow in September at the Detroit auto show.
shows what the future of Dodge electric muscle cars looks like already.
We expect a return of both the coupe and convertible Mustang, as well as the 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 and the 5.0-liter Coyote V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. And we expect a hybrid or plug-in hybrid option—or both. The 2024 Ford Mustang gets a new code name but is likely to have a lot of carryover from the current model, but with styling updates and a new electrical architecture which will enable new features and allow for more over-the-air updates over the life of the vehicle. The Mustang is the only car that Ford sells in North America, it pivoted to a maker of trucks and SUVs in lockstep with a shift in consumer tastes.
The last Detroit auto show was in January 2019 and plans were made to change the annual event to be held in the summer instead of snowy winter. But the pandemic cancelled those plans and the reinvented show has settled on September for 2022 and beyond.
