Construction of Ford's massive BlueOval City manufacturing complex is proceeding with the main assembly building nearing completion ahead of a 2025 production launch

The Ford manufacturing campus is intended to be the first carbon-neutral plant in the Ford network. Carbon neutral energy will be used to power the plant and will recycle energy from the utility infrastructure and geothermal system for heat. That is expected to save 300 million cubic feet of natural gas annually.

What is known is that T3 will not follow the path of the current-generation F-150 Lightning which got to market quickly by sharing many components with the internal combustion versions. The cab and body structure and most interior components are common to both variants while the frame and everything attached to it are new. However, the choice to maintain the upper structure put constraints on the width of the frame so that it shares mounting points.

Once BlueOval City is running, it will employ nearly 6,000 people in an area that doesn’t currently have any assembly or battery factories. Ford is launching a new education and training program called BlueOval Learning. This encompasses several initiatives: Mechatronics training equipment and programs in Haywood, Tipton and Lauderdale counties to get students ready to work with automation systemsMore work-based learning through internships and co-op programs at local colleges and universitiesState of Tennessee and created with the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology, will be a hub for education resources and best-in-class training programs
