WRTV INVESTIGATES | Days before his federal trial was set to begin, a former Muncie police sergeant has now decided to plead guilty to writing a false report.
Sgt. Joseph Krejsa and the U.S. Attorney’s office signed a plea agreement on January 4, records show, in which he agrees to plead guilty to one count of Obstruction of Justice .The plea agreement still needs to be accepted by the court, and no sentencing date has been set.However, the U.S. Attorney’s office has agreed to recommend a sentence at the low end of the advisory sentencing guidelines range if Krejsa accepts responsibility and does not commit a new criminal offense before sentencing.
Krejsa retired from the department in July 2021. According to a federal indictment, he was charged with two counts of writing false reports about two alleged excessive force incidents.
