Application to convert three Tameside pubs into shared houses have been lodged

Three pubs across Tameside are proposed to be converted into shared houses under new plans. Separate applications have been lodged for The Stocks Inn in Stalybridge, the Clarence Hotel in Hyde and the Angel Hotel in Ashton-under-Lyne with Tameside council.

Documents submitted in support of the application by Suraj Majevadia state the property has been ‘vacant for many years’. “The property is currently in poor condition and has been used for illegal activities in the past which has had a huge negative impact on the property over the years,” the report states. “The new owner and proposed development would greatly improve the quality of the conservation area boundary.

The reports add that the main ‘beautiful and ornate’ frontage with its blue tiles will be ‘respected’ and no changes are proposed. “The proposal also aims to clean up the elevation of the property and bring a neglected building back to life,” it states. The report says that Morada offer ‘high quality shared accommodation for professional people’. “They would take large redundant commercial buildings such as Public Houses that no longer paid for themselves, design, build and re-purpose them into shared accommodation,” it states. “However the USP would be that they would be great places to live, very communal with excellent quality fit outs, fitting the latest technology, servicing the areas to keep them in tip top condition at all times.
