The contemporary era committee considers candidates whose careers were primarily from 1980 on. A player needs 75% to be elected. While in San Diego McGriff posted some impressive numbers: 84 home runs in two and a half seasons, 255 RBIs and 345 hits, hitting .278 in '91 and .286 the following year, his two full seasons in America's Finest City.
