Jeffrey Clark, one of 19 defendants in the Georgia 2020 election probe, wants to postpone an ethics violation case brought by a licensing authority for attorneys in Washington, D.C.

is seeking to pause an ethics case against him, citing the charges he's now facing in the Fulton County indictment.

"Imposing a reasonable stay of these hybrid civil-criminal proceedings would avoid imposing the undue hardship on Mr. Clark of having to defend two cases at once, and prevent the legal system from falling into disrepute in the public’s eyes or otherwise seriously prejudicing Mr. Clark’s constitutional rights," they wrote.

A lawyer for Clark and a spokesperson for the Office of Disciplinary Counsel did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday evening.Monday on felony charges in connection with alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. Clark, who was a Justice Department environmental lawyer, was directed by Trump to also serve as the Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division in 2020. TrumpAccording to the indictment, Clark and"unindicted co-conspirators" prepared a document that falsely claimed the Justice Department had identified"significant concerns" that may have impacted the outcome of the election in Georgia and other states.
