Authorities in China confirmed on Sunday that 14 coal workers trapped in a mine for 10 days are dead.

A mine shaft roof collapsed at the Sanhe Shunxun coal mine in Zhenfeng County on Feb. 25 in the Buyei-Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Qianxinan, the state-owned Xinhua News Agency stated Sunday. China is the world's largest energy consumer and the biggest consumer of coal, responsible for 27% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions in recent years.
