The Frasier reboot episode 4, "Trivial Pursuits," finally justifies its existence after capturing what made the original show so special.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Frasier reboot episode 4 captures the feeling of the original series, effectively justifying its existence. Despite the old show's success, getting its revival off the ground took a lot of work from Kelsey Grammer and his team. Aside from finding a platform, deciding on a good premise for Frasier Crane's next act proved to be tricky.
Despite all the discouragement, Grammer was convinced that Frasier still had more stories left to tell. Pivoting from the original Frasier reboot plan that involved Niles, the Paramount+ endeavor brings the beloved therapist back to Boston, where he prioritizes reconnecting with his now-grown-up son, Freddy.
How Frasier Episode 4 Is Similar To The Original Show In the Frasier reboot episode 4, "Trivial Pursuits," the show shifts the focus back to its core storyline — the relationship between Frasier and Freddy. The pilot episodes did a great job establishing the premise, including explaining the falling out between the pair. Episode 3, on the other hand, tackled Frasier's new job as a lecturer at Harvard.
Admittedly, the interactions between Frasier and Freddy aren't as hard-hitting as Martin and his son in the old show, but they have enough emotion in them that the revival starts to feel like its well-loved predecessor. Episode 4's final scene between Freddy and Frasier is particularly reminiscent of the old series in a way that it sustains the drama until the very end. There is no joke to undercut the seriousness of the moment.
