Q. A big win this week for Jeff Brindle, the state’s chief election watchdog, who fended off Gov. Phil Murphy’s attempts to remove him, for now. He was accused of homophobia, but commissioners of the Election Law Enforcement Commission heard testimony from his co-workers and cleared him of wrongdoing. Thoughts?This is the most notoriety ELEC has had in years. The state needs an election watchdog, but it’s fair that the governor and legislature could change leadership every few decades or so.
And please, let’s stow the nonsense that the governor who never met a workplace abuser he did not love is suddenly outraged about Brindle’s inappropriate emails about the LGBTQ community.Phil Murphy has consistently promoted men who are accused of sexual assault, who violently throw chairs in the presence of female subordinates, who refer to women in the most vile, misogynistic terms and who otherwise behave slightly worse than John Belushi in Animal House.
