A woman who could not read or write at 16 has earned a first class honours degree at university.
“I’d realised I was dyslexic when I was around about primary three,” said Ms McRoberts to BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland programme. She mentioned that she was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder .When she had gotten to her sixth year in primary school, her dad died. That made things much harder for her, she added.
While she noted that concepts did make sense to her in her mind, she said that things did not make sense outside of her mind. She was therefore not able to display her understanding. That had built up frustration within her.
