San Diego is the biggest prize for Northeast Ohio travelers, as no other carrier flies nonstop to the southern California city from Cleveland Hopkins.
announced a major expansion at Cleveland Hopkins airport this summer, with new nonstop flights to San Diego, San Francisco, Dallas and Charlotte.
All four routes are expected to be seasonal -- meaning they will not run year-round -- although a final day of service has not been set. United Airlines currently flies nonstop from Cleveland to San Francisco, while American flies nonstop from Hopkins to both Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The presence of Frontier on those routes will likely bring down fares across all carriers, as other airlines drop prices to better compete.
In 2022, Frontier was the fourth largest carrier at Cleveland Hopkins, serving 14% of the airport’s 8.7 million passengers, behind United, American and Delta airlines.
