The prequel movie FruitsBasketPrelude gets a trailer, exploring Kyoko and Katsuya’s relationship, with appearances from Tohru and the Soma family.
A new trailer for the Fruits Basket prequel movie gives a closer look at Tohru’s parents. The film is based on the Fruits Basket TV series, which follows the Tohru Honda an orphan who is taken in by the Soma family. Following this, Tohru quickly uncovers the family’s generational secret. The Soma family are each cursed to turn into different animals from the Zodiac whenever they feel overwhelmed or are hugged by a member of the opposite sex.
Fruits Basket has seen many different forms, originally a manga of the same name written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. After it gained popularity, it was adapted for screen in 2001 but strayed vastly from the creator’s original story. Trying again in 2019, Fruits Basket as fans know it now is much more faithful to the manga and resulted in the already substantial fanbase growing.
After the third and final season of Fruits Basket concluded last year, Fruits Basket -prelude- will take fans back to before Tohru ever became involved with the Soma family. That being said, Fruits Basket -prelude- will also conclude Tohru’s story, as it features new events set after the Fruits Basket anime. Previously released footage already revealed that Tohru will be making an appearance alongside characters like Kyo and Yuki Soma .
