Drivers lamenting the closing at Interstate 69 and Loop 610 will not find any comfort this weekend if they travel on the East Loop, as another closing will snarl traffic at Texas 225.
Bill Montgomery, HC staff / Houston Chroniclewill not find any comfort this weekend if they travel on the East Loop, as another closing will snarl traffic at Texas 225.
Northbound lanes of East Loop 610 will close at 9 p.m. Friday, along with the connection from westbound Texas 225, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, officials said. The area, a major trucking corridor in the Houston region, is expected to see delays throughout the closing. The entrance to northbound Loop 610 at Manchester and the exit to Lawndale also will be closed. Various exits and entrances along Texas 225 in the area and lanes along the frontage roads will be closed.
The closing is needed as part of a $4.8 million project to rehab the Sidney Sherman Bridge, the Loop 610 span across the Houston Ship Channel, just north of the connection to Texas 225.
