The New York Police Department says the suspicious device was found on the upper level of the bridge near the New Jersey side just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Traffic on the lower level had also been shut down but was reopened just before 11 p.m., "The previous alert at the GWB Lower Level in both directions due to Police activity is no longer in effect. There are residual delays."The bridge, which spans the Hudson River, is considered one of the busiest in the world.
