An internal Republican poll found that a substantial majority of Georgians feel their state is moving too fast to reopen businesses and public spaces amid the coronavirus pandemic by AndrewSolender

for his plan to reopen the state relatively early and rapidly, received poor marks for his COVID-19 response, with 41% of voters saying they approve and 54% saying they disapprove.

Trump also garnered a negative rating for his handling of the virus, with 46% saying they approve and 51% saying they disapprove. Trump leads former Vice President Joe Biden by just 1 point in Georgia, according to the poll, 45% to 44%. It’s a state Trump won by 5 points in 2016 and which hasn’t gone for a Democrat on the presidential level since 1992.

The poll also found Democrats competitive in one of the state’s two upcoming U.S. Senate elections, with Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff trailing Republican incumbent Dave Perdue, who reportedlyIn the U.S. Senate special election, Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler trails primary challenger Rep. Doug Collins by 16 points, with Collins at 29%, Democrat Matt Lieberman at 12%, and Loeffler tied with Democrat Raphael Warnock at 11%.
