Georgia Tech needed an extra player for the Cypress Point Classic, so freshman QB Colson Brown is stepping in.
A freshman quarterback on the Georgia Tech football team will make his first competitive start for the Yellow Jackets this week ... at one of the most famous golf courses in the world?
The unique situation came about because Georgia Tech is playing in two separate and simultaneous golf events this week. The top half of the squad is at the East Lake Cup in Georgia, while the remaining players will fly to the Cypress Point Classic in Pebble Beach, Calif. The latter tournament is hosted at the one and only Cypress Point, which is consistently ranked as one of the top three courses in the country alongside the likes of Augusta National and Pine Valley.

Gets to play Cypress!Well, we wouldn’t say he’s making much of a sacrifice. Brown will get an all-expenses-paid trip to a bucket-list course for any golf fanatic,he can say he’s been a part of multiple Georgia Tech athletic teams. That’ll be a nice addition to the resume.
