In a first for Scotland, the Safer Drugs Consumption Facility, on Hunter Street, will have booths for up to eight people to safely inject heroin or other drugs at any one time.

“There has been a lot of discussion, both nationally and locally, about this service but Glasgow City Council has offered strong support. The service was first mooted eight years ago but was blocked because the UK Government said there was no legal framework for it to operate. The centre has an aftercare cafe and staff are primed to direct users to services that may help with their addictions.
