GTA transit riders are newly frustrated with Metrolinx after the agency changed a keyannounced last month was the removal of a direct bus corridor between Milton, Mississauga and Toronto’s Union Station. It has prompted an outcry from commuters and spurred Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie to get involved.
But since Metrolinx changed the Route 21 bus, getting to his office in Mississauga from his home near Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market takes roughly two hours each way — twice as long as it did before. He’s made special arrangements with his boss so he can work fully by remote — though it’s not his preference. He’s looking into getting a car.Milton resident Reva Greeves called the route change a “huge inconvenience.
“The city wants people to use transit more instead of driving so there’s less congestion on the highways but they’re not making it very easy for people to do that.”In a statement, Metrolinx said it changed the route to “improve reliability” after the bus had been delayed due to traffic downtown.
