Republican lawmakers are demanding a special session in Albany to urgently deal with the state’s rapidly worsening migrant crisis.
The letter, sent by six GOP politicians in the Assembly on Monday, says that both the Assembly and the Senate should be reconvened, as more than 59,000 migrants are in New York’s care.“[W]hat first began as ‘temporary’ housing has now morphed into perpetual housing due to the lack of a plan that tackles this crisis head-on,” the half-dozen lawmakers wrote.Hochul and Democratic state leaders have already allocated or promised City Hall $1.
