Despite criticism, GOP senator again claims Ukraine meddled in 2016 election

Kennedy asserted that news media reports indicate that the former Ukrainian president also favored Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to win the presidency over then-Republican nominee Donald Trump. "The fact that Russia was so aggressive does not exclude the fact that President Poroshenko actively worked for Secretary Clinton," the Louisiana Republican added.

At the Kremlin's direction, Russia's intelligence services waged a pro-Trump disinformation campaign on social media and secretly stole tens of thousands of private emails from the Democratic National Committee, the U.S. intelligence community concluded.
