Fort Worth police officer on a family violence charge he was arrested for in AugustThe grand jury, which is conducted in private, voted to “no bill” the charge, meaning it will not be filed.

Nickolas Honea, who had been with the department 16 years at the time of his arrest, was placed on restricted duty at the time. An inquiry as to whether Honea is still employed with the Fort Worth Police Department was not immediately answered Monday afternoon. Fort Worth defense attorney Robert Huseman said in a news release that the grand jury “absolutely did the right thing.”

“We are grateful that they considered all of the facts and circumstances - including facts not made public - and correctly applied the law,” Huseman said. “This allegation disrupted this officer’s life and livelihood and damaged his reputation. He’s looking forward to closing this chapter and moving forward.”

Honea was arrested by Azle police on Aug. 23 in connection with a November 2021 incident, Fort Worth police previously said. Officers had obtained a warrant for Honea on a charge of continuous family violence and he turned himself in the following day,After his arrest, the department placed him on restricted duty and stripped him of all police powers while administrative and criminal investigations took place.
