WESTWATER, Grand County — A grass fire is affecting traffic on I-70 near the Utah-Colorado border in Grand County on Tuesday.
Utah Highway Patrol said the westbound lanes on I-70 are closed due to the grass fire affecting the roadway. Traffic was shut down in both directions for several hours, but eastbound lanes reopened around 6:20 p.m. Westbound traffic is still being held on the Colorado side, according to UHP. Moab Valley Fire Department is responding to the fire on the Colorado state line which started around noon.
The fire is under investigation, but Grand County Sheriff's Office said it appears the fire was started by a truck that was hauling something when the load detached and sparked the fire.
