The subscription mashup is already causing havoc.
The ongoing Streaming Wars are gearing up to enter a new campaign phase, and things are about to look a lot different for audiences. During an earnings call with investors yesterday, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslavinto an entirely new platform in summer 2023—and it’s already clear there are going to be casualties.
“HBO Max has a competitive feature set, but it has had performance and customer issues,” Zaslav described during the call while later adding that he’s confident their new product will be “superb.” “Performance and customer issues” is a very nice way of describing HBO Max’s recurring problems, such as the platform regularly crashing during times of high viewership.
