The crash happened about 4:20 a.m.
A head-on crash early Monday on a rural commute road connecting Contra Costa and Alameda counties killed a person and caused the roadway to be shut down, the California Highway Patrol said.
The wreck involved a big rig and a sedan and happened on southbound Vasco Road just south of Camino Diablo about 4:20 a.m., according to the agency.The CHP closed Vasco Road in both directions and ordered a Sig Alert for severe traffic. They did not have an estimated time for when the road would be open.
