The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has warned of heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint due to a backlog from Malaysia. Travellers are advised to check traffic conditions before embarking on their journey.

Planning a trip to Malaysia with the kids for the March school holidays? Be prepared for long wait times at the border crossings. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) issued a warning on Saturday (March 15) at 9.10am on Facebook about heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint due to a backlog from Malaysia . The car queue stretched beyond Woodlands Avenue 3, Exit 10A, with an estimated waiting time at the checkpoint exceeding two hours. Traffic congestion eased around 8.

23pm that same day. However, on Sunday (March 16) at 9.20am, ICA announced another surge in heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint, again attributed to a tailback from Malaysia. The agency urged travellers to check traffic conditions before commencing their journey. According to the Clear The Jam app, wait times for traffic heading towards Johor were estimated between 58 and 88 minutes on the Causeway and 40 to 61 minutes on the Second Link at 10.47am on Sunday (March 16).ICA had previously issued a warning on March 7, anticipating heavy traffic at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints throughout the March school holidays and Hari Raya Puasa. The school holidays run from March 14 to March 24, while the Hari Raya Puasa holiday is from March 28 to April 1. During the recent Chinese New Year holidays, from January 24 to January 30, more than three million travellers crossed Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints. In a statement, ICA emphasized the importance of traveller cooperation with ICA officers, adherence to traffic rules, and lane discipline. ICA stated that it would take strict action against travellers who disregard officer instructions or commit offences at the checkpoints
