HeidelbergCement AG (HEI.XE) on Thursday gave upbeat guidance for 2019 and posted a sharp rise in fourth-quarter net profit. The German cement-and-aggregates maker said net profit rose to 228 million euros ($259.2 million) in the fourth quarter from EUR149 million in the same period a year earlier. Full-year profit rose 25% to EUR1.14 billion, thanks to higher sales, a lower tax rate, and around EUR600 million of asset sales, the company said.
