At least two Canadians are dead and two more are missing after the attacks on Israel by Hamas.Global Affairs Canada, which was aware of least one of the deaths as well as the two missing people, said there are 1,419 registered Canadians in Israel, and 492 in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, but noted this registration was voluntary and likely incomplete.Ben Mizrachi was at a music festival in southern Israel when gunmen opened fire, killing at least 260 people.
Mizrachi’s disappearance was initially reported by his former high school, which broke its Shabbat communication protocols to ask for prayers for people in Israel.Alexandre Look, who was in his 30s, was also among the dead following the attack on the music festival.“He left us today in Israel, following a terrorist attack. Like a true warrior he left as a hero wanting to protect the people he was with,” Look’s father wrote.
Aladjem told Israel’s Channel 12 TV station that she was taken hostage and marched toward Gaza in the company of Vital-Kaploun’s two children, aged four months and four years. She was able to make her way back to a nearby community called Gvulot, where the children were reunited with their father.Vivian Silver, a 74-year-old Canadian-Israeli peace activist, was reportedly taken as Hamas fighters entered the community Be’eri on the border with Gaza.
