That gave the ball back to the Cougars’ offense at the Clark 38. On the second play of the drive, Lee was able to scramble for a 16-yard run. Two plays laters the left side of the Cougars’ offensive line, guard Jacob Navarro and tackle Eddie Soefje, parted the Rams’ defense and sprung Goertz for a 44-yard scoring run.
The 71-yard drive was aided by offsetting penalties that wiped away a Cougars fumble. A bad snap sailed over Nic Lee. Marshall appeared to regain possession on the Clark side of the field.
