A man found inside his Highland Park apartment along with two dead bodies has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
A man found inside his Highland Park apartment with the bodies of his parents, both fatally stabbed and lying in a pool of blood, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, Lake County authorities said Thursday.
At a bond court hearing in Lake County Thursday afternoon, Assistant State’s Attorney Lillian Lewis said police found the couple lying on the floor of the apartment in a pool of blood after responding to the residence.Police officers had gone there Wednesday morning after receiving reports of yelling and threats coming from inside, Lewis told Judge Theodore Potkonjak.
The prosecutor said Barry Goldberg had blood on his clothing, and police recovered a large knife in the apartment. Goldberg was taken into custody and later admitted killing his mother, Lewis said. The state’s attorney’s office approved murder charges Wednesday night.
