It is unknown how many were injured in the crash.
The status of the crews of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra that crashed into one-another mid-air is unknown, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The two planes struck one another at around 1:20 p.m. during the Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Dallas show. The B-17, a much larger plane, could be seen in videos shared on social media colliding with the smaller plane. The front of the B-17 broke off entirely from the plane, while its wings burst into flames as it hit the ground, the Dallas Morning News said.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson called the crash a “terrible tragedy in our city” in a tweet, adding that many details about the incident were still unknown. “The videos are heartbreaking,” he wrote. “Please, say a prayer for the souls who took to the sky to entertain and educate our families today.”
