Spurs point guard Tre Jones left the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum stunned and saddened by man’s inhumanity to man.
Spurs players Sandro Mamukelashvili, left, and Zach Collins study exhibits at the United States Memorial Holocaust Museum during a tour on Thursday, March 23, in Washington.
The museum defines the Holocaust as “the state-sponsored, systematic persecution and annihilation of European Jewry by Nazi Germany and its collaborators between 1933 and 1945. Jews were the primary victims—six million were murdered; Roma, people with disabilities and Poles were also targeted for destruction or decimation for racial, ethnic, or national reasons.
Jones said the museum also sparked painful thoughts about U.S. atrocities, including slavery and the genocide of indigenous peoples.
