Homicide probe underway after man’s body found in west Jefferson County field

An investigation is underway after a man’s body was found Saturday afternoon in a western Jefferson County field.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:45 p.m. to the field in the area of Third Place South in Lipscomb, near the old Lipscomb dump, said Sgt. Joni Money.

The body was that of a male who appears to have been shot multiple times. The remains were taken to the Jefferson County’s Coroner’s Office for autopsy and identification.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
