There are fresh plans from anti-government demonstrators to gridlock the road and rail infrastructure serving Hong Kong International Airport on September 1 and 2.
Airport officials are ready to reduce the number of flights taking off and landing in Hong Kong and will not rule out cancelling services altogether as authorities prepare for the worst ahead of planned protests.
In the most extreme scenarios, this would also include shutting down Airport Express trains with no replacement shuttle buses provided, leaving people at the airport and downtown all but stranded. Failed but undeterred, protesters plan to disrupt airport traffic next weekendIn a thinly veiled call to disrupt the airport, protest organisers suggested people cycle, hike, go for a drive, have a picnic or do some plane-spotting in the area.
If all transport to the airport were stopped, there would be no reason to continue the stress test, the protest organisers said.
