An agenda item dealing with charter schools within HISD was indefinitely postponed to allow more research and discussion.
One of the proposed solutions is to cut $20 million from the central office. Last fiscal year, the district made a $60 million budget cut to administration. It was originally designed as a small source of funding for a handful of schools, but given the enrollment declines, more than 40 percent of schools qualify for the subsidy.
